*One of the MEDLINE surveys was conducted at the request of the National Institute of Health (NIH) and the US Agency for Health Research and Quality as a part of preparing a comprehensive report on the CAM situation in the US. This survey unambiguously illustrates the **increase in randomized controlled research and meta-analyses in TCIM between 1982 and 2002.*** *The report assesses the situation of TCIM in the US. It was prepared by the Institute of Medicine, and it was published under the title* `Complementary and Alternative Medicine in the United States` *in 2005. We further quote this report:* “Figure 5-1 charts *(here Figure 1, editor's note)* the tremendous growth in the number of RCTs over the past 20 years, and Figure 5-2 *(here Figure 2, editor's note)* shows that the rate of increase of reviews and meta-analyses is even greater. These increases parallel general trends of growth in trials and meta-analyses over the past twenty years (…). Tento průzkum jednoznačně dokládá **nárůst randomizovaných kontrolovaných výzkumů a metaanalýz v oblasti TCIM v letech 1982–2002.*** *Zpráva o situaci TCIM v USA byla vypracována Lékařským ústavem (Institute of Medicine) a vyšla pod názvem* `Komplementární a alternativní medicína v USA `(Complementary and Alternative Medicine in the United States) *v roce 2005. Z této zprávy dále citujeme:* „Obrázek 5-1 *(zde obr. 1, pozn. red.)* zobrazuje výrazný nárůst v počtu randomizovaných kontrolovaných studií za posledních 20 let. Obrázek 5-2 *(zde obr. 2, pozn. red.)* zobrazuje, že nárůst v počtu přezkumů a metaanalýz je ještě vyšší. Tyto růsty jsou analogické s obecnými trendy růstu v realizaci studií a metaanalýz za posledních dvacet let (…).
